The Acid House by irvine welsh
this current book im reading, is easily the best i've read for 2005. (its so easy to overhype things as the best of XXXX when you're at the end of it) A collection of weird short stories wonderfully written makes you want to laugh out loud in public. none of the main characters in each stories are successful.
imagine you go through the roughest day of your life, getting sacked, dumped, kicked out of your soccer team, kicked out of your own house by your parents, getting locked up for being with a black guy.
then you meet god.
who is pissed off with you for being such a weak shit. he says he'll turn you into an insect. bottlebug or something.
next day, you start eating on human faeces and start hiding out at your friends house.
you plan to get revenge on the people who'd been mean to you and everything goes well.
until you fly over to your parents. you find out why they chased you out. father is naked with garters and your mum with a strap-on dildo giving it to your dad doggy style.
mum breaks your body with newspaper. you re-appear as human next day at the same spot you got wacked, with crushed bones and all. you die.
then the last story i read was about a youth getting too high on lsd he goes into comma, and wakes up in a baby's body. able to speak like the rugged youth he was, he enjoys ordering his dumbstrucked mother around and getting breastfed
meanwhile the baby's soul gets stuck in the youth's comatosed body and his girlfriend gets to teach him everything from scratch. which turns out good for people around him. he finally learns how to please his girlfriend with foreplay.
there's so many other stories. very interesting. but not interesting enough to keep me glued to the book.

when ever he writes in 'perfect' english. i feel something's wrong. and i read to myself with the scottish accent now. heh.
im leaving trainspotting after my tony parsons. so exiting!
